Vision Screening
Throughout September into October 2025, Fulshear Simonton Lions Club worked with 11 area Elementary Schools to perform Spot Vision Testing on over 1900 students age 6 and under. Approximately 16.5% of those students were referred for a follow up with an eye professional. WE SERVE!

Fulshear Simonton Lions Club participates in the Lions Kidsight USA Foundation to work with local schools each fall (September - October) to perform Spot Vision testing for children under 6 years old.

Most children do not get their vision screened until after age 5. Our Spot Vision device allows testing for children under 6 for amblyopia, (eyes that cross or wander out), refractive errors (the need for eyeglasses) and unequal vision between the two eyes, and potentially even more serious issues such as cataracts and eye cancer. If a vision problem is detected, a referral is provided to the school nurse so parents can follow up with an eye professional.

Learning is 80% visual. If a child can't see well, they may have problems learning or paying attention. Vision problems associated with amblyopia (lazy eye) can become permanent if not corrected by age 7. Lions are committed to ensure children have the opportunity to receive vision screening, 6 months to 6 years of age.

You can reach out our Club directly or the school nurse where we have a scheduled vision screening.
